Songcheng Performing Arts entered the top ten global its theme park groups, recording 14.56 million trips in 2014 an increase y-o-y of 103%.
Meanwhile Songcheng’s Hangzhou Songcheng attraction was top ranked in China in terms of visitor numbers in 2013 and 2014. It has become the most popular theme park in China and is ranked eighth in the Asia-Pacific region and ranked among the top ten popular theme parks like Tokyo Disneyland and Hong Kong Disneyland.
The entry of global theme park giants Shanghai Disneyland Park and Beijing-Tongzhou Universal Studios to the Chinese market in recent years proves the potential value of cultural tourism.
However the profitability of China's domestic theme park operators has anything but impressive. After around 300 investors poured RMB50 million into the industry only 10% of theme parks had established well-known brands and profitable operations, 20% were at zero growth and almost 70% were in the red.(Translation by David)
