The ranking of China mainland's passport has improved significantly, climbing from 78th in 2006 to 60th in 2024.

Henley & Partners, an international consulting firm, has updated the 2024 Henley Passport Index rankings.

According to the latest list as of November 7:

The Singapore passport, granting access to 195 visa-free countries,  remains the most powerful passport worldwide.

Second place is shared by seven countries, including Japan and South Korea.

Notably, mainland China’s passport climbed six places to rank 60th, thanks to an increase in visa-free destinations from 80 to 85 nations.

The rankings for other regions of China also saw changes:

Hong Kong maintained 171 visa-free countries and rose one spot to 18th.

Macao added one visa-free country, bringing the total to 145, and improved its ranking from 36th to 33rd.

Taiwan lost four visa-free countries, reducing the total from 145 to 141, but still gained one spot in ranking due to changes in the overall list.
